Discover Peterborough County
A REGION ON THE RISE
With a projected 41% population growth by 2041, Peterborough County is emerging as one of Ontario’s most promising regions for investment, lifestyle, and opportunity.
Peterborough County offers a vibrant mix of natural beauty, economic potential, and welcoming communities. Spanning over 4,000 square kilometers, the County is home to eight distinct townships, two First Nations communities, and the City of Peterborough—each contributing unique strengths to the region’s dynamic economy and cultural fabric.
Rooted in a rich history of agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism, the County is evolving through innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. This transformation is creating fertile ground for both established sectors and emerging industries, making Peterborough County a smart choice for forward-thinking businesses and entrepreneurs.
The region’s geographical diversity is one of its greatest assets. Divided by Highway 7, the northern landscape features the rugged terrain of the Canadian Shield—forests, lakes, and rock outcroppings ideal for outdoor tourism, recreation, and resource-based industries. In contrast, the southern region boasts rolling hills and fertile farmland, offering prime conditions for agriculture, agribusiness, and rural development. Charming villages and vibrant main streets provide distinctive culinary and retail experiences, adding to the County’s appeal for residents and visitors alike.
