Peterborough County is known for its striking geographical diversity. Separated by Highway 7 running east/west through the region; the northern part of the county is home to the rugged terrain of the Canadian Shield, characterized by forests, lakes, and rock outcroppings — a natural resource-rich area with strong potential for outdoor tourism, recreation, and resource-based industries. The southern portion of the county is defined by rolling hills and fertile farmland, offering excellent conditions for agriculture and agribusiness, as well as potential for residential development and rural enterprises.
